We supply technology for book spine gluing – precisely controlled application of hot melt adhesive onto both the spine and the side of the book block. PUR adhesive (high strength, resistance to heat and ageing) is used for the spine, and fine beads of EVA adhesive for side gluing. How it works and what technology is used
Hot melt adhesive is applied by a jetting (slot) application head evenly onto the spine of the book block, or as fine beads onto the side to attach the cover in a single production step. Melt-on-demand technology melts the adhesive only as needed – reducing burning, deposits and consumption.
Preparing the book block
The spine of the block is milled and roughened so that the adhesive flows perfectly between the individual sheets.
Adhesive application onto the spine
The jetting head applies an even layer of PUR adhesive along the full length of the spine for a strong and durable bond.
Side gluing and fitting the cover
Fine beads of EVA adhesive on the side of the block attach the cover – all in a single production step.
A strong binding with lay-flat opening
