Assignment
Work Press Aviation has developed a new protective respirator half-mask aimed primarily at the healthcare industry – a lightweight design in which the filter needs to be reliably sealed and anchored in the plastic body. The key requirement was to form the filter composite and anchor it in the plastic body at an application temperature of 110 °C, and at a cycle rate that would allow production to meet the high demand.
Solution
Kaletech supplied both the technology and the adhesive. Given the tight timing, we chose a solution with a collaborative robot that works directly alongside the production operator. We mounted an application head on the robot, selected a suitable adhesive and set the optimum dosing for composites with a wide dimensional tolerance range. Even before actually purchasing the technology, the customer used our rental shop, which sped up the start of production.
Results
Today the customer produces more than 8,000 respirator half-masks per shift, with the highest level of respiratory protection. The cooperation between the operator and the collaborative robot ensures a consistent quality of filter sealing even at high production volumes.
“To seal the filters we approached Kaletech, who helped us supply both the technology and the adhesive. Given the tight timing, we chose a solution with collaborative robots and also used the rental shop, which sped up production even before the technology was purchased. We are satisfied with Kaletech's services and products and will gladly recommend them for the next project.”
